Can I get samples first?

Yes, free. We post offcuts of the colours you pick. Request samples.

Can composite decking go in a bushfire-prone area?

It depends on the site's BAL and the board's own fire test. BAL-40 and BAL-FZ need non-combustible decking, which standard composite isn't. BAL explained.

140 mm boards: 6.9 m; 180 mm boards: 5.4 m; 88 mm boards: 10.8 m (5 mm gap).

13 × 140 mm, 10 × 180 mm, 20 × 88 mm boards of 5.4 m, with 10% waste.

Should boards run the long way?

Usually. Fewer joins and less waste, as long as joins land on a joist.

Is composite hotter than timber?

Yes, in direct sun, and dark colours more than light ones. Choose a lighter colour for an unshaded deck.

Does composite need oiling?

No. Wash it with water and a soft brush a couple of times a year.

Which lasts longer?

Composite doesn't rot or need re-oiling. Hardwood can last as long if it's oiled and kept clean; neglected timber usually fails first.

Can I use composite decking in BAL-29?

Only if that specific board has been tested to AS 1530.8.1 and achieved BAL-29. Check the report names your profile.

Is composite allowed in BAL-40?

Standard composite isn't; BAL-40 needs non-combustible decking such as aluminium systems.

Who decides if my deck complies?

Your building surveyor, from the site BAL and the product's test evidence.
